About The Priory Singers

The Priory Singers are a South Wales based choir made up of about twenty singers who between them have a wealth of experience as soloists and choral members.

Making music together is the best way for people to become friends.

The main objectives of the Choir were made clear from its inception: to make high-quality music from an eclectic and innovative repertoire; a determination that continues to be shared today by all of the Choir’s members. The members of the Choir range from young singers to semi-professional and professional singers with vast choral and soloist experience.

The name is taken from Caerleon’s Priory, where the Choir held their first rehearsals back in 1999. Since that time the Choir has earned a reputation as one of the most polished and versatile choirs in the principality.  We now rehearse and perform regularly in the rich acoustic of St John the Baptist Church, Risca Road, Newport.

To cover the choral repertoire in style, the choir often performs with a professional orchestra recruited from some of the finest players in South Wales. Other concerts are given ‘a cappella’ without accompaniment.
